“Hi Karen,
Tonka (means "great")
slept the whole 6 hour journey to her new home in Canada (she was only
sick once in the truck)! She started calling the shots as soon as
we got out of the truck. Her super sized bed is upstairs in the
family room in front of the TV. She will sit at the top of the
stairs and howl until one of us goes up there with her. Tonka
loves running around in the backyard, climbing rocks or wood piles,
lying in the gardens, and chewing on any kind of wood, twig or tree that
she can find. She must love the water because we had to fish her
out of the pool on Day 3! At 9 weeks old (weighed in @ 12 lbs) we
introduced her to our New York State Country Property... she loves it
there! We can't wait to see how she'll react to our large pond!
She is so funny in the snow... she throws it around and chases it.
We take her wherever we can (she's spent a total of about 3 hours by
herself since we got her 2 weeks ago). Yesterday she enjoyed her
ride in a Home Depot shopping cart. She nearly jumped right out of
the shopping cart to kiss a little girl in the store. She loves
everybody, especially little people! She wags her tail and offers
her paw to anyone who comes even remotely close to her. Everyone
is very fascinated by how beautiful she is, and what a super friendly
personality and temperament she has!
We love her to death!
You have given us the best little girl anyone could ever ask for.
And she really is a hypo-allergenic puppy!!! We knew it was right
from the first time we visited you and your dogs... the day she was born
and we were able to help!
Thank you so much!
Jamie and Sean (Burlington, Ontario)
p.s. we think she will be
big like a Tonka Truck!!!“

“Hi Karen,
Tonka is so perfect!!! At 12 weeks our healthy baby weighs 19 lbs, 13
oz. She has already learned to sit, shake and lie down when asked. We
are working very hard at stay and come, but she’s still got the upper
hand. We took her for a hike (off leash) on the weekend and she wondered
off on us. We found her
eating a deer carcass… yuck! Needless to say, obedience training
starts on Tuesday. Tonka loves the snow, especially chasing snowballs,
but we have to fatten her up as she gets cold easy, especially with our
cold Canadian winters. She curls up into a little ball and lies in the
snow, day or night, and sometimes falls asleep. That being said… she
really hates getting little snow balls in between the pads of her feet.
Not a single person has failed to comment on her beauty and ask about
the breed… We have already given your website information to 5 people.
She truly is the best!
Hope all is well with you, Darlene and all your furry kids. Congrats on
your first ever litter of red puppies… they too are very beautiful. We
wanted to take Petaga home the day we met him (floppy ear and all!).
Take care,
Jamie & Sean”

“Hi Karen!
Tonka graduated from Level 1 obedience (we are still unsure how she
passed) yesterday. She is highly trainable - but only when she
wants to be! She is a very happy dog with bowls full of energy.
The instructor said he would love to do agility training with her.
On the weekend Sean was remembering the first few weeks we had her,
during the early days she could not get up on the bed, not for lack of
trying, and just as those words came out of his mouth… she jumped 3
feet high to land on all fours on the kitchen table…. from a sitting
position!!!! She never ceases to amaze us. At 20 weeks old
(April 2006), she is 32 lbs (not nearly as big as we thought she would
be by this age). Her colors are still changing, making her more
beautiful all the time! Now that the snow is gone, Tonka loves to
lay outside for hours (not that she didn’t love the snow too),
breathing fresh air and listening to birds.
Attached is a picture of her lounging in the snow at 16 weeks (19 lbs),
and showing off her beautiful face at 18 weeks. Thank you again
for giving us the most amazing dog we’ve ever known.”
