“Hi Karen,  Thank you for raising such a great breed. Aziban (son of Ota and Ohapi Pui) is now about nine months and he is doing great. It has been a privilege to raise such a   magnificent dog. His intelligence, ability to learn, and calm demeanor are remarkable for a puppy. I'm proud to say he is one of the most balanced dogs I've ever met.  He's not aggressive or fearful. He's curious but not too curious, courageous but not too courageous, independent but not too independent. There is nothing bad I can say about his behavior. He   has grown to be a glorious physical specimen. The raw meat, supplements, and exercise have created a perfectly formed dog. His coat, bone structure, and musculature are made for the wilderness. I can't imagine a better camping companion.  He was great in the winter and he doing surprisingly well in the heat of the summer.  When he's out in the forest, there's no doubt that he's a majestic animal in his element.  I've attached a couple of his best pictures if you would like to use them for your website.  Thank you so much for all your hard work with an incredible breed,  Russell Fabritz”

“Karen,

It has been a while. (Dakota Qaletaga) Cody is 10 months old now and is absolutely beautiful. He is very gentle with all of us as well as guests that come to visit. We socialize him at the local dog park where he has made many friends. I have never heard a growl and possibly once heard a bark. He does know how to howl though. He is truly a wonderful addition to our family. Cody is the son of Ota and Sota Hota and is everything we had hoped for. He is about 95 lbs and 26" at the shoulder now and still growing, a big boy. I have attached some recent pictures. Thanks for a wonderful breed.

“Hello Karen,

I hope all is going well for you and yours.

My wife and I wanted to give an update on our wonderful addition to our young family. DOZER (son of Petaga and Ota) is 5 months old now and doing soooo well. He weighs over 60 pounds already and It looks like he's on his way to being bigger than his Papa. He just recently completed his first puppy class where he picked up almost everything on his very first try, not to mention catching on to potty-training very quickly. He very much loves the companionship of everyone, 4 legs as well as 2 ;) and has made best friends with the neighbors rascally little jack russel and very sweet pit-bull as well.

Hopefully in the very near future we will have space enough for another one of your wonderful puppies!
Everywhere we go people are so impressed with his beautiful color, size and temperament... and what a personality he has developed, he couldn't be a better mix of his parents. One look into at him and you can see the wisdom of an old soul and the exciting spark of a puppy all at once. He is every bit the dog you promised us he would be!

Enjoy the pictures THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

“Karen,
We have been meaning to write and send some pictures for a while, but
one thing or another always seemed to get in the way. These are pictures of Kitala Mato, daughter of Ota and Ohapi Pui, right after she turned one year old. She was born 11/13/06 . She is enjoying the first snow of the year.

I feel like I am just copying most of your other letters by saying so, but it is so true that you cannot take her anywhere where she is not the center of attention. Everyone comments on how beautiful she is, and they always want to know all about her. We have given many people your web site to get more info. We took her to a couple of training classes when she was younger and she was the star pupil in the class. She has the absolute sweetest disposition. She has been a regular fixture at our kids’ soccer and baseball games. My wife has taken up running and Kitala has been her regular companion, having no problem keeping up with her for even 4 or 5 miles. She can never get enough attention and always wants to play with whatever people or other dogs are around. As a matter of fact, that is the only drawback with Kitala. She craves company so much, and she really hates to be alone. The only problems we have had with her were the few occasions that we had to leave her alone for a few hours, and she got a little "destructive". We are actually thinking about getting another dog to keep her company. She also likes to dig, so our yard looks a little like a mine field. But that is the price we have to pay, because she is so wonderful in every other way.

Hopefully you can add these pictures to your satisfied customer section of your web site.

Enjoy the holidays!!!

Lauren and Ed Rush”

“Hi Karen,

After much consideration, we have come to the conclusion that you were right; we do need a second dog. Kitala, daughter of Ota and Ohapi Pui, needs a buddy, for company and to keep her out of trouble. We are running four or five miles with Kitala every day and that still is not enough to tire her.  Most of the time, she is well behaved, but she gets bored. Along with doing a huge amount of digging, she opens the mailbox with her teeth and steals the mail, so obviously she is very smart and needs more mental and physical exercise.  The dog trainer suggested adopting a dog older and more relaxed than Kitala, to be both company and a behavior model. We are starting our search for the right dog with you, because we love the breed so much, we cannot imagine having another type of dog.  Native American Indian Dogs really are special.

Is there any chance that you are looking to reduce your breeding stock and have a NAID that we could adopt?

I have attached a recent picture of Kitala, so you can see how she is maturing. We think she looks a lot like her mother.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks, once again, for breeding these wonderful dogs.

Sincerely,

Lauren and Ed Rush”

“Hi Karen,

Just an update on one of your girls. (daughter of Ota & Petaga) Larka, brings a new dimension to our family, don't know what we did without her. Here she is after a romp in the pond and the subsequent shower, which she actually seems to like once she gets in the tub. At the vet's Friday she weighed in at 50#. She enjoys her romps in the woods and with a few lessons under her belt is rather well behaved. She loves to ride in the car and goes into stores like Lowes and Agway as well as the pet stores. Everywhere she goes she makes friends. The folks at the vet's and at Petsmart really love her and call her by name. She continues on high pro kibble plus meat and veggies which she loves.

Hope all is well in MI.

Little Wolf - Sire~Sota Hota

Little_Wolf.jpg (19569 bytes)

“Karen,

We have now had our little puppy for a week and we could not be happier.  We tried several Cherokee names but that language is so soft in its sound that none of the words we wanted to use seemed to make a good name.  So, we decided to stay with English and call him Little Wolf, which gets shortened to Wolf most of the time already.

I must say I was expecting a smaller puppy at 9 weeks.  I have had German Shepard's and Labs that were not as big at 9 weeks as Little Wolf was.  If he goes to 80+ pounds at full grown and his feet grow in proportion, he will have ping pong paddles for feet.

I had a couple questions about your facilities because of what Little Wolf has or is doing now.  Did he start out in a crate like environment?  I had not planned to crate train him but when a friend offered me one we decided to try it.  I took about ten seconds to get him happily inside.  From thnm on he uses the crate for naps and bed time.  In fact, we moved his crate from the living room to the laundry room at night for his bed room.  When it is bed time he happily goes into the crate with all his toys and smiles as we carry him in his crate to the laundry room.  If he did not have a crate like environment when he was born, I am not sure why he went so quickly into the crate and was so comfortable with it from the beginning.

Do your facilities have anything that acts like a pet door - a loose flap over an opening for the dog to go through at will?  We had one installed from the hall way out to the patio when we built the house.  My wife showed Little Wolf the door and how it worked.  She held up the flap for him to go out once and then in once.  After that he uses it on his own like he was born to it. In fact, he gets a little mad if we have to close the door so he can not get through the flap when he wants too.

Did you use any flea and tick repellent on the puppies before you let them ship out?  With his very thick under coat, is there any type or brand that you would recommend?  He spends time in the yard now and when it gets a little warmer down here, we might start to see a few fleas in the next month or two.

Little Wolf is a very social puppy.  He is a little reserved until someone new speaks to him.  Then his is immediately very friendly.  He is clearly NOT an alpha male.  He rolled over and showed us his tummy within minutes and when we play he often will roll onto his back.  When I get on the floor with him he likes to play but has never challenged me for the dominate position.  He is still a little to excited with our cat so the two of them have not quite got the details of who is going to be in charge worked out.  The cat is making her position on that one clear but Little Wolf does not seem to even know what she is talking about.

Little Wolf is very much a happy addition to our family.  All the neighbors think him beautiful and many of the local dogs welcomed him.

Your comments on the crate, doggy door and flea medication would be greatly appreciated.

Bill P.”

“Hi William,

Most NAIDs HATE the crate.   Your boy was in one only when he was shipped to you.  As far as a "doggy door" goes YES, all my pups are potty trained for a doggy door, they all learn to use it and go outside to do their business, usually by 7 weeks of age.  Little Wolf has his daddy's feet!  Smokey is about a 110 lb dog, maybe more and Ota is a 94 lb female. His personality comes from his Daddy, his brains from his Mom and his demeanor/submissiveness/non aggressiveness is pure and simple, NAID.  That's how they all are.   I am so pleased you like him.  He was a top quality boy! I kept one of his sister's for breeding.   She is solid and fuzzy, looking more like Sota Hota (Smokey). Updated pics of him would be great!!!! :o) I do not have fleas or ticks on my place in Michigan and none of my dogs ever have had such.   I guess, just ask your vet, what he or she recommends.  Something about the NAID being hypoallergenic, makes fleas not want to live on a NAID.  Ticks are blood sucking varmits, they aren't particular who they attack.   Thanks again for the update.   Karen”

“Karen,

Little Wolf (Majestic View's Sota Hota and Ota) is fast approaching two years old.  He is through the teething thing but still likes to chew toys.  He has become a very good baby sitter to our 4 and 1 1/2 year old grand kids.  It took a little while for him to learn that they were human boys and girls and not puppy boys and girls.  Once he learned to play their way he will not eat or sleep while he is on duty when they are here.

We spoil him rotten but he is still a good dog with good behavior.  I have had cars stop in the street twice recently to walk over and pet him and ask about him.  Every kid in the neighborhood knows him as do all the Moms.  There are a couple kids who are usually frightened of big dogs but they will let him lick them.  There is only one older lady in the "hood" who is still frighten of him but even she comments how beautiful he is.

Most people think he is a wolf or hybrid wolf/dog until we talk.  I have sent about ten different people to your web site and two or three said they were interested in getting a puppy at some point in the near future.

My wife refers to Little Wolf as our Rock Star because he can draw a crowd anywhere he goes.  Little Wolf and I waited outside Sam's Club one day while my wife was inside.  Within a few minutes the Manager came out to see what the crowd was all about as there were 12/15 people standing around petting Little Wolf and getting kisses.  Little Wolf saw it as just another ordinary day since everyone is drawn to pet him.

Little Wolf is now a little short of 100 pounds.  He grew so fast at one point that he had some real growing pains in his legs.  His size and strength was a little too much for his bones when he was about one and he had a broken toe and a sprained leg at different times.  Our Vet did a lot of research about the bred after we took him in the first time and has been a great help.  Little Wolf still has trouble with "leave" and "come" but other than that he is well trained and obedient.  We have trained him to make good decisions and let him make many for him self.  I did not want a dog that did only what I told him to and did not move if he did not know what I wanted of or from him.  I have a neighbor who has "over trained" his dog to that extent.  When ever the owner is around the dog will hardly move and always has a half frighten look.  When the owner is not around and it is just me and Little Wolf, the dog smiles and plays openly.  Little Wolf is smiling practically all the time when ever he is not asleep or eating.

Little Wolf and I have established good communications.  We take him occasionally to the Pet Paradise place to board him for a weekend if we are going to be out of town.  After one trip he basically told me that the cookie treat that we give him at bedtime was for little puppies and he was to old for that.  I asked where he got that and he told me that is what some of the dogs at "camp" told him.  We corrected that.  On another occasion he had to check everything in the house when he got home especially his toys and bedroom.  He asked me what was moved around or taken away while he was gone.  Again I asked where that came from and he said that some of the dogs at "camp" told him that was what happened to them - they would go to camp and when they got home they could no longer come in or there was someone new in the house of some such.  Again I had to explain to him that it did not work that way in his house.  It usually takes a day or two for him to except what I tell him about the things he hears at "camp".

His bedroom is the laundry and he will not bark when he gets up in the morning but, he will sort of bay a little to tell us he is ready to get up and go play.  He seldom barks other than when he is playing with the dogs next door who bark almost constantly.  We had two kids jump our fence one Sunday afternoon and he alerted on them but did not growl.  The hair on the back of his neck came up.  He strongly suggested that they stand still until I said it was OK and then he let them pet him.  He follows the service folks around when they come to bug spray or such.  I have yet to see him react around what I would consider as a BAD person, someone with evil intent or just a mean spirit.  Last fall I was in the hospital for a few days and my wife brought him over to see me on the porch.  Some people he would stay between me and them and others he would let come up to pet him.  He was always on alert at the hospital even when he was being touched by a couple little kids.

Little Wolf has become the dog I have needed for the last 35 years.  Even though my wife is a cat person she has been completely taken over by Little Wolf.  Little Wolf is doing well with the cat but the cat is only now able to let him come up to her and sniff.  If he tires to kiss her she freaks and hisses.  Some times she runs just so he will chase her and other times she truly acts scare that he will catch her.  He has a few times only to lick her and make her very mad.

Little Wolf is a member of the family in every way.  He is calm and has a lot of self confidence.  He strongly prefers to eat what we do to the point of turning down dog food but eating vegetables from the table scraps.  He enjoys his food but is in no way possessive about it.  He can and does take small bits from the grand kids with his lips and tongue.  You can pick up his food dish in the middle of his meal and he would only ask if you are going to put some more of the good stuff in it.  He likes an occasional peanut, almond or cashew with a special taste for Ritz peanut butter crackers.  We will share a few while I am having a soda and then he asked for a drink of my soda.  He is happy when I give him one of the ice cubes from the glass.

In the last few months he has started something new when swimming in the pool with us.  He goes sometimes on his own after a walk on a hot day.  But now he is coming into the pool and taking a strong, firm hold on one of us by the arm and takes us to the edge of the pool.  It is what he would do if he was trying to save us or something.  It takes some insistence by us to get him to stop doing it.  Not real sure what it means.

He is happy, healthy and secure in every way.  He has 'packed" with my wife and I and the cat and recognizes my daughters and their families' place in the pack as well.  He loves to go for car rides especially to the banks where he gets dog biscuits.  With my wife being the treasurer for three different organizations and our own bank, he has several to work from, often on the same day.

Best regards from Bill, Marwin, Little Wolf and Sassafras”

“Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I went to Pet Supplies Plus today to pick up some more canned puppy food for Zoe.  Anyways, Felicia and I took Luna with us. She is so incredible. She loves everyone, isn't scared of cars, the carts in the store, NOTHING!  She is great in the car and everything. Then - Wendell called and asked me to pick something else up at Lowe's. I wasn't going to go because I had Luna, but then remembered that Lowe's doesn't have any food in it, so I went in and asked them if I could bring my dog in, and they said SURE!  ... She was in her element. She loved it.  She was greeting people, and children. I think the store manager would have kept her as their "store dog".  It was so much fun.  Anyways, that was a really nice part of my day and wanted to share that with you.
Talk to you soon.
Love ya,
Hil”

“Hi Karen,

Sorry it has taken so long to get news of Maya to you. She is doing great and growing by the minute. The trip home was fantastic, two pit stops in 6 hours and she slept the rest of the way. Her last visit at the vets she weighed in at a whopping 31 pounds. My asthma is not acting up at all. We have included a few photos and will keep in touch.

Thank You for the wonderful addition to our family.

“Hi Karen! I hope you are well and enjoying this Easter as we remember that The Lord has power over death. :o)
Our two pups are doing great!
Navarre , son of Ota and Sota Hota (NAID) is doing well and is such a sweet heart. He loves every single person and any dog he meets. He has a steady temperament and is getting big and gorgeous! I will try to remember to include a pic of him in his graduation gown after graduating from pre-school. He got first place in two categories!  He got first place in the immediate sit and also the stay. He loved preschool.
Our Missy Coyote,
Kuwa Wa and FF's little girl, is a sweety too. She is smart and really adorable. And she just loves Navarre . He of course loves her too.

We will be moving to OK at the end of April, so I will be sure to get back to you
when we get there.

Take care!

“Hi Karen:

Well our little girl, Ohanzee Ota, daughter of Ohapi Pui and Ota, is now just over 14 weeks old and she is growing like a weed.  My wife is already saying she likes her the size she is now, and I keep reminding her she will get a lot bigger.  We love her to pieces and enjoy having her in our home most of the time.  Like any puppy there are times she drives us the wall, but that will get better over time. She already knows some commands and will be starting puppy training in the near future. Actually the training is probably more for me than it is fir the pup. I don't know about the rest of your dogs, but Shadow is a real snow dog. She loves eating it, and diving head first into it, and climbing to the top of any snow pile she can find.

On another matter, my daughter has decided she wants a pure white Sibercaan when she has a place of her own, after seeing all your dogs, especially your Sibercaan, Jochebed. Little does she know how much time a puppy will take up.
Again, thanks for the great dog.

I have attached a few of the pictures we have taken of Tali (daughter of Ota & Catori) with Yonv (daughter of Sakata Jerry & Odawa).  Yonv does tend to mama her, but lets it be known which is her food dish!  The baby is adjusting well and seems to be comfortable in our home.  She is learning quickly.  If she is half the dog Yonv is, then we will have 2 of the most amazing dogs in the world! Thanks!
I'll send more pictures when we get them uploaded.

Yonv and Tali continue to play together and I think will be very close as Tali grows up.

“Hi Karen

I am the wife of Kevin Buckley. We purchased Wasu Ota from you last March. I wanted to send you a few photos (one from the 4th of July and the other from a trip to Maine with her best friend who is a golden retriever) and give you an update on how she is doing. She is doing well and a great dog. She is full of energy and loves living in snowy New England. We looked forward to snow storms this year so that we could see her play out in the snow. We bring her everywhere and she loves to run, hike, and swim. She is friendly, happy and keeps us busy. She is a favorite at the dog parks and gets along well with other dogs.

I hope all is well with you. We hope someday to get a second NAID-she would love a playmate!

Thanks again.

"Hi Karen,

Just wanted to let you know that we made it home safely.  Zuka slept the whole way home (3.5 hours).  He is VERY intelligent!  He walks on the leash with no problems, he has been home for 2 nights and "accident" free!!  We had Zuka next to our older dog Smokey in the sit position and we gave Smokey the shake command and then tried it immediately after with Zuka, and to our amazement, he did it!!!!  What an amazingly intelligent dog.  What an amazing breed!  Tell everybody to keep in mind, he is only 8 weeks old and already accomplished those things within two days of us owning him.
Attached is a photo we thought was adorable and were hoping you'd share it with everybody by posting it on the website, under another SATISFIED customer.  WOW, That's such an understatement to how we feel!

Thanks so much,
