“Hi Karen,  Thank you for raising such a great breed. Aziban (son of Ota and Ohapi Pui) is now about nine months and he is doing great. It has been a privilege to raise such a   magnificent dog. His intelligence, ability to learn, and calm demeanor are remarkable for a puppy. I'm proud to say he is one of the most balanced dogs I've ever met.  He's not aggressive or fearful. He's curious but not too curious, courageous but not too courageous, independent but not too independent. There is nothing bad I can say about his behavior. He   has grown to be a glorious physical specimen. The raw meat, supplements, and exercise have created a perfectly formed dog. His coat, bone structure, and musculature are made for the wilderness. I can't imagine a better camping companion.  He was great in the winter and he doing surprisingly well in the heat of the summer.  When he's out in the forest, there's no doubt that he's a majestic animal in his element.  I've attached a couple of his best pictures if you would like to use them for your website.  Thank you so much for all your hard work with an incredible breed,  Russell Fabritz”

“Karen,
We have been meaning to write and send some pictures for a while, but
one thing or another always seemed to get in the way. These are pictures of Kitala Mato, daughter of Ota and Ohapi Pui, right after she turned one year old. She was born 11/13/06 . She is enjoying the first snow of the year.

I feel like I am just copying most of your other letters by saying so, but it is so true that you cannot take her anywhere where she is not the center of attention. Everyone comments on how beautiful she is, and they always want to know all about her. We have given many people your web site to get more info. We took her to a couple of training classes when she was younger and she was the star pupil in the class. She has the absolute sweetest disposition. She has been a regular fixture at our kids’ soccer and baseball games. My wife has taken up running and Kitala has been her regular companion, having no problem keeping up with her for even 4 or 5 miles. She can never get enough attention and always wants to play with whatever people or other dogs are around. As a matter of fact, that is the only drawback with Kitala. She craves company so much, and she really hates to be alone. The only problems we have had with her were the few occasions that we had to leave her alone for a few hours, and she got a little "destructive". We are actually thinking about getting another dog to keep her company. She also likes to dig, so our yard looks a little like a mine field. But that is the price we have to pay, because she is so wonderful in every other way.

Hopefully you can add these pictures to your satisfied customer section of your web site.

Enjoy the holidays!!!

Lauren and Ed Rush”

“Hi Karen,

After much consideration, we have come to the conclusion that you were right; we do need a second dog. Kitala, daughter of Ota and Ohapi Pui, needs a buddy, for company and to keep her out of trouble. We are running four or five miles with Kitala every day and that still is not enough to tire her.  Most of the time, she is well behaved, but she gets bored. Along with doing a huge amount of digging, she opens the mailbox with her teeth and steals the mail, so obviously she is very smart and needs more mental and physical exercise.  The dog trainer suggested adopting a dog older and more relaxed than Kitala, to be both company and a behavior model. We are starting our search for the right dog with you, because we love the breed so much, we cannot imagine having another type of dog.  Native American Indian Dogs really are special.

Is there any chance that you are looking to reduce your breeding stock and have a NAID that we could adopt?

I have attached a recent picture of Kitala, so you can see how she is maturing. We think she looks a lot like her mother.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks, once again, for breeding these wonderful dogs.

Sincerely,

Lauren and Ed Rush”

Little Wolf - Sire~Sota Hota

“Karen,

We have now had our little puppy for a week and we could not be happier.  We tried several Cherokee names but that language is so soft in its sound that none of the words we wanted to use seemed to make a good name.  So, we decided to stay with English and call him Little Wolf, which gets shortened to Wolf most of the time already.

I must say I was expecting a smaller puppy at 9 weeks.  I have had German Shepard's and Labs that were not as big at 9 weeks as Little Wolf was.  If he goes to 80+ pounds at full grown and his feet grow in proportion, he will have ping pong paddles for feet.

I had a couple questions about your facilities because of what Little Wolf has or is doing now.  Did he start out in a crate like environment?  I had not planned to crate train him but when a friend offered me one we decided to try it.  I took about ten seconds to get him happily inside.  From thnm on he uses the crate for naps and bed time.  In fact, we moved his crate from the living room to the laundry room at night for his bed room.  When it is bed time he happily goes into the crate with all his toys and smiles as we carry him in his crate to the laundry room.  If he did not have a crate like environment when he was born, I am not sure why he went so quickly into the crate and was so comfortable with it from the beginning.

Do your facilities have anything that acts like a pet door - a loose flap over an opening for the dog to go through at will?  We had one installed from the hall way out to the patio when we built the house.  My wife showed Little Wolf the door and how it worked.  She held up the flap for him to go out once and then in once.  After that he uses it on his own like he was born to it. In fact, he gets a little mad if we have to close the door so he can not get through the flap when he wants too.

Did you use any flea and tick repellent on the puppies before you let them ship out?  With his very thick under coat, is there any type or brand that you would recommend?  He spends time in the yard now and when it gets a little warmer down here, we might start to see a few fleas in the next month or two.

Little Wolf is a very social puppy.  He is a little reserved until someone new speaks to him.  Then his is immediately very friendly.  He is clearly NOT an alpha male.  He rolled over and showed us his tummy within minutes and when we play he often will roll onto his back.  When I get on the floor with him he likes to play but has never challenged me for the dominate position.  He is still a little to excited with our cat so the two of them have not quite got the details of who is going to be in charge worked out.  The cat is making her position on that one clear but Little Wolf does not seem to even know what she is talking about.

Little Wolf is very much a happy addition to our family.  All the neighbors think him beautiful and many of the local dogs welcomed him.

Your comments on the crate, doggy door and flea medication would be greatly appreciated.

“Hi William,

Most NAIDs HATE the crate.   Your boy was in one only when he was shipped to you.  As far as a "doggy door" goes YES, all my pups are potty trained for a doggy door, they all learn to use it and go outside to do their business, usually by 7 weeks of age.  Little Wolf has his daddy's feet!  Smokey is about a 110 lb dog, maybe more and Ota is a 94 lb female. His personality comes from his Daddy, his brains from his Mom and his demeanor/submissiveness/non aggressiveness is pure and simple, NAID.  That's how they all are.   I am so pleased you like him.  He was a top quality boy! I kept one of his sister's for breeding.   She is solid and fuzzy, looking more like Sota Hota (Smokey). Updated pics of him would be great!!!! :o) I do not have fleas or ticks on my place in Michigan and none of my dogs ever have had such.   I guess, just ask your vet, what he or she recommends.  Something about the NAID being hypoallergenic, makes fleas not want to live on a NAID.  Ticks are blood sucking varmits, they aren't particular who they attack.   Thanks again for the update.   Karen”

“Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I went to Pet Supplies Plus today to pick up some more canned puppy food for Zoe.  Anyways, Felicia and I took Luna with us. She is so incredible. She loves everyone, isn't scared of cars, the carts in the store, NOTHING!  She is great in the car and everything. Then - Wendell called and asked me to pick something else up at Lowe's. I wasn't going to go because I had Luna, but then remembered that Lowe's doesn't have any food in it, so I went in and asked them if I could bring my dog in, and they said SURE!  ... She was in her element. She loved it.  She was greeting people, and children. I think the store manager would have kept her as their "store dog".  It was so much fun.  Anyways, that was a really nice part of my day and wanted to share that with you.
Talk to you soon.
Love ya,
Hil”

“Hi Karen! I hope you are well and enjoying this Easter as we remember that The Lord has power over death. :o)
Our two pups are doing great!
Navarre , son of Ota and Sota Hota (NAID) is doing well and is such a sweet heart. He loves every single person and any dog he meets. He has a steady temperament and is getting big and gorgeous! I will try to remember to include a pic of him in his graduation gown after graduating from pre-school. He got first place in two categories!  He got first place in the immediate sit and also the stay. He loved preschool.
Our Missy Coyote,
Kuwa Wa and FF's little girl, is a sweety too. She is smart and really adorable. And she just loves Navarre . He of course loves her too.

We will be moving to OK at the end of April, so I will be sure to get back to you
when we get there.

Take care!

"Hi Karen,

Just wanted to let you know that we made it home safely.  Zuka slept the whole way home (3.5 hours).  He is VERY intelligent!  He walks on the leash with no problems, he has been home for 2 nights and "accident" free!!  We had Zuka next to our older dog Smokey in the sit position and we gave Smokey the shake command and then tried it immediately after with Zuka, and to our amazement, he did it!!!!  What an amazingly intelligent dog.  What an amazing breed!  Tell everybody to keep in mind, he is only 8 weeks old and already accomplished those things within two days of us owning him.
Attached is a photo we thought was adorable and were hoping you'd share it with everybody by posting it on the website, under another SATISFIED customer.  WOW, That's such an understatement to how we feel!

Thanks so much,

The Case Family"

“Karen,

Happy Mother's day.  Just checking in. Zuka is six months now and he is doing great!  He has done so much since we got him.  He got neutered, went to the groomer, went to puppy kindergarten and today went to the dog park.  We think he is about 60-70 pounds now.  He is bigger than our 13 year old shepherd mix.  Everyone that meets him wants to know so much about the breed.  He is well loved.  He is very sweet and docile with kids.  He is wonderful to be around.  Attached are two pictures to add to your web site.  Thank you again.
