"Best in
Show" "Catori" a Native American Indian Dog
(sire Majestic View's Petaga, dam Majestic View's Tate)
and his owner James Reid of Woburn (MA.) won the Owner/Dog
Look-a-like category at the Winchester Town Day Dog Show on Saturday.
They also won the Largest dog ribbon. But they weren't finished-
they went on to win Best Pure Bred Dog and Best in Show in the 5th Annual
Winchester Town Day Dog Show hosted by Master of Dog Ceremonies, Glen
Doyle. "He practically swept the awards," said Doyle.
"If he had had a dog trick it would have been a clean sweep."
DOMESTICS:
It wouldn't be
Town Day in Winchester without a dog show, and this year's winner did not
disappoint. "I found out this morning about the show,"
said Woburn resident James Reid, proud owner of a mammoth canine that
impressed the crowd and the judges alike.
Larger than many
of the children who crowded around in a circle to watch the show, Catori,
a 19 month old Native American Indian Dog, took home the blue ribbon for
best in show. "Catori means Spirit in Hopi," said Reid who posed
for a picture with his dog after alot of trotting around in circles.
"He had fun".

“Hey Karen, here are pictures as promised! The
picture with my 11 month old son is proof of the breed's gentleness and
tolerance of young children.
Anya and Chinook (puppy on left) are inseparable, preferring even to eat
out of the same dish instead of separate ones. It's comical to watch them
sleep, each using the other as a pillow.

We have been very happy and so busy with Geronimo (we picked him up in
April), son of Tate and Pui. He is now 6 months old and weighs 55
pounds. Everybody comments on how handsome he looks, and we are all
wondering just how big he'll get! He just graduated from puppy
kindergarten and won the "recall" event. HE is the
friendliest dog with both people and other dogs, although we do have to
keep our pet chinchilla away from him. lol!! Thanks again for
such a wonderful dog. Elaine" |

| “Hi
Karen,
Hope
your Holidays are going well.
Howi ( turtle dove in Miwok) son of Tate and Petaga is doing
great! He is a very happy, curious, smart little guy. Bernard, our Bernese
Mountain Dog absolutely loves him and vise versa. They are inseparable.
Bernard will do any thing for Howi including let him have any bone or
favorite toy that he wants even letting him take it from his mouth. They
eat together but often Bernard will wait until Howi is done. It’ll be
interesting to see if this changes as Howi gets bigger. They wrestle and
play very nicely too. Inside is much more reserved than outside but I
suspect that is Bernard’s doing. Outside they’re wild. Bernard takes
dramatic running leaps towards Howi landing just short of him and Howi in
return clobbers Bernard. Its scary and very funny to watch. Here are
some pictures of Howi. one after his first bath, one with my daughter and
one with Bernard, our Bernes Mt. Dog.
We
love him very much and feel very lucky with all the circumstances that
brought him to us.
Thank
you, thank you, thank you!

“Hi
Karen,
Howi ( Tate-Petaga ) is doing really great. He’s 7 months old and weighs
in at 103lb! He is actually a bit taller than Bernard, our Bernese Mnt
dog. Howi is such a nice dog – very gentle and calm and very kind to
other dogs, even very small ones. He’s a real eye turner when we take
him out. If you’re getting calls from the
Northern
Virginia
area, it probably because of him. Everyone wants to know where we got him.
His eyes are beautiful – a very light brown, almost yellow.
He and Bernard are very close. Their favorite sport now is tackle football
and marathon running and of course, swimming. They both love the
water and that’s the first place they head to when I let them loose
every day. To watch them is amazing. They’re in doggie heaven here. Its
such a good feeling to see them making the most of all that they have.
Still don’t know who is the alpha dog. They’re both so easy going.
Howi starts 2 weeks day school on Monday. He already knows everything but
is still a bit shy when he’s in town and away from Bernard. I’m hoping
to get them both their Canine Citizenship and for Howi to be a service
dog. I met a neighbor who told me about a group in our town that she is
going to get her dog involved with that goes around to nursing homes and
other places. I think Howi would be a big hit being a NAID and all and
because he is just so good and calm. Bernard still gets overly excited.
People are always amazed and laugh when they hear that Howi is the younger
of the two because he is so mature acting.
Howi’s ears are slowly going up. I tried taping them when they first
fell but it was to no avail. With Bernard still a puppy and Howi being so
smart, the tape would be off in a flash. One ear is up all the time now
and the other one goes up when he’s really happy or excited so I think
its just a matter of time. I found a vet that I really like and he
recommended waiting a bit longer before having him fixed since he is still
growing like a weed. He felt he needed time to grow into those ears (LOL).
I hope you like the pictures!
Take care,
JoEllen”

“Hi Karen,
Just thought I’d
update you on Howi (Tate/Petaga
11/2/2007
).
In these pictures he’s 11 months and weighs in at 112 lbs. We were at
Letchworth
State Park
in
New York
camping when they were taken. One is of the 2 dogs with Bob (husband) and
the other is me and my sister with the dogs. Howi was a big hit where ever
we went. There was a craft fair the first day and poor Bob couldn’t
go 10 feet with out someone stopping him asking about Howi. He has such a
presence. It’s amazing. He’s
a bit shy but with everyone wanting to pet him he’s just sort of given
up. We have been taking him everywhere with us, outdoor fairs especially,
and he’s been great. Everyone wants to pet him and we’ve even had 3
year olds coming up to kiss him. Bob, who’s
never been much of an animal person, absolutely loves him. Unlike Bernard
who lives to be petted, Howi is very laid back and goes along with
whatever you want. I’m a big animal person so for Bob to be this way is
wonderful. Thank you so much for bringing this dog into our family.

| “Hi Karen -- I'm
using the excuse of the occasion of Kaiyeh's (kie - yuh) spay to send you
pictures of another wonderful MVK dog. Kaiyeh is a dream. At 5 months she
is already hovering around 50 lbs. She has very successfully completed
puppy training and grade 1. She has assimilated into our family
seamlessly. She is gentle with all children especially my boys (3 + 5).
She is a favorite at the school yard and in our neighborhood. I think she
is stunning -- but then I'm a bit biased! I've attached some pics of her.
My husband Bill will be sending you some of her with her niece Tonka --
who lives down the street and visits frequently. Tonka is owned by Jamie
and Sean and is from Kitchka's Nov 05 litter -- another wonderful dog.
These two have a really strong connection and it's great that they can
spend several days a week with each other.
I have just mailed you a copy of Kaiyeh's
spay documents.
Thank you and Tate and Fred for my beautiful
'dog-ter' (other nicknames include 'Pooch-a-hontis' and 'the Notorious
D-O-G) -- What can I say? I'm in love!
Cheers!
Sharon Langman”

“Hi Karen -- Just thought I'd share some recent pictures of our 'beauty'
Kaiyeh. She looks to be almost at her full height, is healthy as a horse
(or should that be NAID) and totally sweet. She spent the summer running
free on our 5 acre cottage island and is now home about to attend grade 2
training after very successfully completing puppy and grade 1. She is in
daily contact with babies and small children (my own, their friends) and
is the most popular gal at my kids elementary school. Her 'mane' has
finally grown in and I think she is quite similar looking to her dad,
although she has her mom's great legs! She gets to have a 'play date' with
our neighbor's dog, Tonka (Kitchka,Nov. 2005) at least twice a week which
they both love.
Take care,
Sharon

“Hi Karen -- it's been awhile...I just wanted to let you know that
our lovely Kaiyeh (Tate
and Fred Nov. 2006) is happy, healthy and a well-loved member of our
family! Her coat seems to have matured now and strongly resembles her
dad's. Her eyes have remained a groovy amber with an inner ring of
turquoise (how crazy is that?). At just over 75 pounds she stands on her
hind legs at about 5'3" but remains the most gentle and submissive
dog, especially to small children. My own young boys are now able to walk
her on her leash as she is well able to follow voice commands. She
continues to be the biggest attraction on the school yard and in the
community at large and has recently been certified as a St.
John's Ambulance Therapy Dog. Kai and I visit local senior
residences and she gets to be petted and fawned over! Quite heavenly for
her. Hope all is well at MVK.
Cheers!from

“Hi
Karen,
I
wanted to write and let you know how Maya (daughter of Odawa and
Catori), and Kaya (daughter of Tate and Petaga) are doing. They
are really amazing dogs. They are both so smart. We have only had them a
week and already they have learned their names, how to come, walk on
a lead, sit and lie down on command. They are even housebroken!! I put in
a doggie door and they love it. In
and out all day long. You were right, they love the outdoors. We
have been taking them on little walks around our neighborhood and they
love it. Everyone has to stop us and ask about the puppies.
"Gorgeous" is what we hear most often.
They
just adore our seven-year old Golden
Retriever. They follow her around everywhere. She loves them
too. They are all so sweet together.
Thank
you so much for raising the best dogs ever! They have already brought our
family so much happiness.
We
will keep in touch and let you know how they are doing.

Kaya (white daughter of Tate and Petaga). As you can see, they have grown
so much their first year. They love the outdoors. Their favorite time of
the day is in the morning when we go for our walk around the neighborhood
or to the dog park to play with all their pals. They are so cute. Best
buddies, always playing together. We are so glad that we chose to get the
both of them.
They are both so sweet and BEAUTIFUL.
Everyone stops to ask about them. They are such a joy.

“Hi Karen,
We absolutely love our two
wonderful puppies. They are so
loving and cute. So far, they are getting along greatly with our other
dogs, and seem to be adjusting well to their new home. They are best
buddies and constantly chase, rough-house, and chew on each other. They
usually come when called and amazingly are somewhat paper trained, as much
as young puppies can be.
I was able to get our
co-op to order the prism dog food for us and I've ordered the vitamins for
all of our dogs especially since they are all natural and don't contain
lead as does Pet Tabs.
Best to you,
Judy Mattis” |

“Hi Karen,
We love our dogs! They are a very important part of our family.
Ruby (petaga/tate 9/11/08), our NAID, is a beautiful girl. Bear (catori/lunar
eclipse 7/18/09), the Siberian Indian Dog, is very sweet. They are
both lovers. Bear is sweet and not as smart as Ruby. She
is sharp. They both weigh in the mid-eighties and I have always gotten
great reports back from the vet on their checkups. They go to doggie
daycare a couple times a week at Cascade Hospital for Animals. They are a
huge hit there with all the employees. Ruby is the queen of the
daycare. I started taking them to the dog park this past spring.
I almost enjoy going there as much as they do. They are very well
socialized and not aggressive at all. My daughter has asthma
and allergies but honest to goodness no reaction whatever. In fact,
her asthma is improving. They are both excellent around small
children also. Thanks again for my babies!

Hello! I just wanted to let you know the pup arrived tonight! He is

touch to let you know how things are going. Thank you so much for
raising such beautiful dogs!

“Karen,
Hello! I just wanted to write to let you know Sukattuq is doing
wonderful! He has such a personality! He had his first vet visit last
week and he is going to start puppy kindergarten in a couple of weeks.
He is so smart too. He already learned some basic commands and he is
only 11 weeks old! I am so proud of him! I started leash training him
and he is doing great. I've taken him for a few short jogs and he stays
right next to me. He makes me laugh because he usually wants to run with
one of his toys in his mouth. He has been receiving so many compliments
from the people he has met! Thanks again Karen!
Marie”

“Karen,
Hello! This is Sukattuq's owner (
Pui / Tate male).
Suka is DEFINITELY growing fast! Everytime I bring
him to visit family everyone can't believe how big he has grown. I have
a two year old nephew who used to be a little afraid of him because he
was so big but now, all he asks me is when I am bringing Suka over to
visit again! He is definitely in his full blown chewing stage. All of
his puppy teeth are out and all the adults are growing in. He always
makes me laugh because everytime I take him for a walk outside he still
has to carry one of his toys in his mouth. :o) My
Mother thinks he is the cutest thing ever.......Thanks again Karen!

“Karen,
Hello! We have Sukattuq
(Suka) he is the son of Pui and Tate. He is doing great! We have
set up an outdoor kennel for him in our yard so he can hang around
outside when we are not at home. We have also been arranging "Play
Dates" with our friends who have dogs, so Suka can romp around with
them. I have also been looking into Doggie Daycares in the area.
The dogs in our neighborhood are kinda jealous of him. :) Every time I
take him for a walk the neighborhood kids swarm towards him. I
can't believe how well behaved he is with little kids, especially since
he is still a pup. Although he certainly doesn't look like one.
People keep asking me if
he has any wolf in him. LOL!! Our neighbors own a dog
kennel/grooming facility said that he has the Best Temperament of a dog
they have ever seen, in any dog breed.
Suka Loves to visit them
because of all the excitement with all the other dogs boarded there. We
kept him there for a few days and our neighbors told us he made quick
friends with all dogs that were there. Well, once again Thank-you
so much for Suka, he is such a Ham! My husband and I can't imagine our
lives without him.
Sincerely,
Marie”

I just wanted to fill you in on how Sukattuq (Tate/Pui
Male Pup) is doing. We celebrated his 1st birthday last month. He has
turned into such a handsome dog and he is so well behaved. We gave him a
really nice piece of steak for his birthday :o) He ate better
than my husband and I that night. We have been taking him to doggie
daycare a couple times a month where he gets to run around freely with a
group of other dogs. He also made quick friends with my
brother's new puppy. I was so impressed with how gentle he was with the
puppy. They get to play together every week. I've attached a few of
pictures of his for you. I hope you and the rest of your beautiful dogs
are doing well! I love looking at the new puppy pictures! Take care!

| “Good
Morning Karen,
My
name is Bill and I live in
Central
NJ
near
Princeton
.
I had never heard of a Native American Indian Dog until yesterday.
My girlfriend and I were down in
Princeton
for the afternoon and I saw a woman & her two small children walking,
what I thought, was an
Akita
puppy. I walked over to them and asked about it and the mother told
me what the breed actually was. What a sweetheart! What a
beautiful & perfectly proportioned dog! I approached her slowly,
as you should any dog you don’t know, knelt down to her level, and once
she gave me a good sniff, she sprang up on my knee and gave me a big wet
kiss on the cheek. I forget the name but it was a 12-week-old female
that they bought from you. She was mostly white with some brown/dark
brown markings. I hope this is enough information for you to know
who the puppy is. I would really like to know if “A”, are there
any more females from this litter available or “B”, if there is going
to be another litter this year from the same parents. My girlfriend
and I loved her markings, overall shape, and most importantly, her
personality.
Hope
to hear from you.
