| “Hi Karen,
I hope everything is well with you.
I just wanted to send you some pictures of Cochise (I know the
spelling isn't right, but we had already sent all the paperwork in to
the county/state before I found out). He is so beautiful! We
get so many compliments on how pretty he is.
We looked at the picture of his sister, Pute Wata, on your website
and thought how much their faces look alike. Cochise's has a bit
more white though.
Our girls just love him. My oldest, Lauren, was so afraid of dogs
before we got him, and now she'll go up to almost any dog and pet them.
My youngest, Rianna, can't get enough of him. She is definitely
his favorite. He loves to sleep under her bed (I still don't know
how he still fits!) and on her bed with her if it's not too hot.
He likes to stay outside all day and lay in the snow. One day
when it was snowing and very cold he was laying outside and the snow was
accumulating on his whole body. I tried to call him in and he just
looked at me as if to say, "Are you nuts?! This is heaven!" Needless
to say, he didn't move and stayed right where he was and went back to
sleep until the girls got off the bus 3 or 4 hours later.
We had put a down payment on another one when we picked him up and
all those puppies on your website that can still be adopted are very
tempting, but we have decided to wait until the summer of 2007 when he
will be 2 years old before we get another one (so keep us on the list!).
That way he will have calmed down a bit and we expect to be moving then
to a bigger house with a much larger yard for them to run in.
Thanks again for such a wonderful family member and companion.

“Hi Karen,
Greetings from
New York
State
's
Catskill Mountains
. Cosmo and George are 20
weeks old this week. We took them to our Vet for weighing prior to a
current
heartworm medication update. What a surprise! George weighed in at 58 lbs.
and Cosmo a whopping 62.5. Our Vet remarked that they were doing very
well.
As brothers they are nearly inseparable. They are very alert, attentive
and
curious. Training of basic commands is going well. They are very good at
sitting on command and coming when called. Right now I'm focusing on
preparation for off leash activities but that will be in the future. We've
brought them into our house a few times but it is pretty clear that they
prefer being outdoors. They like to play and of all the toys they both
prefer some kind of squeaky chewy thing like a ball. Cosmo likes to run
after a thrown ball while George likes to stay close to me most often. I
must say that these pups are just what I was hoping to find.
The attached pictures were taken yesterday at our Vet's office. Aren't
they
handsome?
Regards,
Leon Hilfstein”

“Hi again Karen,
I just took these photos this afternoon. The boys are now nine months old.
It is great to have both of them. They keep me and each other
company. People who stop by in
person comment about how extraordinary and handsome are these pups. When
the nearby town's siren goes off they join in and sing in unison and in
sequence. I haven't been able to voice record them yet but hope to catch
them at their singing best.

“Hi Karen,
The first signs of winter arrived on Friday, Nov. 9 with a local snowfall
of about 3-4 inches of wet snow. What better time to let Cosmo and George
have some snow fun. They were enjoying dragging out and chewing on stacked
branches and were interrupted by my picture taking, agreeing to pose. They
have adjusted pretty well to the invisible fence system that allows them
quite a sizable area to explore.
Best regards,
Leon Hilfstein”

“Happy 4th of July Karen,
Here is a recent photo of Cosmo, George and me on a warm early summer day.
Both dogs are handling the invisible
fence setup well with only a couple of mistakes earlier this
spring. We usually go for a long walk every day and spend ever increasing
time in the field. Cosmo has shed his winter
coat while George has been shedding very slowly. On our walks many
people stop to give positive comment about the “boys”. They take these
things in stride as they are much more interested in sniffing the air and
things around them.

“Happy New Year Karen,
I wish you a fine year. We’ve had lots of snow and bitterly cold
temperatures lately as I’m sure you have had. None of the weather
conditions have bothered these exceptionally hardy dogs. Cosmo and George
just carry on as usual. Most days they have freedom of the yard and they
take full advantage by romping, digging and chasing each other. They
continue to learn target behaviors and commands such as going “home”
and coming when called from a long distance. Having passed their 2 1/2
year birthday I believe that they have reached peak size. Cosmo weighs in
at about 110 and George is in the mid 90’s. Living in such a rural area
doesn’t allow us to get to dog parks but any visitors never fail to
comment on their good looks and calm demeanor. I’ve even had people stop
their cars to ask about them.
The attached photo was taken recently while out in our yard.
Regards,
Leon Hilfstein”

“Hi Karen,
Cosmo and George recently celebrated their third birthdays. They enjoy the
relative freedom of the invisible fence system which gives them a large
area to run and explore. They have keen noses and eyesight never missing
the opportunity to find snakes – poor snakes. While brothers they have
distinctly different personalities as well as physical attributes. Cosmo
will chase a ball, George might pick one up to chew but has no interest in
the chase. He will chase Cosmo who chases a ball. Cosmo is in the process
of shedding while George hasn’t begun. I am collecting the undercoats
and plan on having the hair spun into yarn.
Best wishes,
Leon Hilfstein”

“Summer greetings, Karen
It’s been rainy here nearly every day so far this summer. Cosmo and
George
take the weather in stride and enjoy the warm summer breezes along with
the
rain. One day recently, between rain events, I stepped outside and saw
them
down side-by-side. I quickly grabbed my camera to catch the moment as this
was rare since they are usually on the move around the grounds.
Best wishes from the

“Hi Karen;
Know you are very busy. Just a quick note to tell you that
Darwin
is doing great. So smart, already knows many of the ropes around here.
Had a reunion gathering yesterday between
Darwin
and Tala. It is amazing, but they just went berserk when the made
contact. They remembered who
each other was. They were running around the backyard playing for a
good hour. They had so much fun. Both us, and George/Gemma will have
them get together for visits periodically, most likely Saturdays.
Good doggie.

“Hi Karen,
Quick update on
Darwin
. We are absolutely delighted with the pup. He is getting big and very
smart. Will obey commands very well already and loves the out doors. Had
his visit with the vet on 2/4 and had a complete checkup and all the
needed shots and stuff like that. Attached a pic of the now 25.5 pound
member of the Roderer family. Also, we have get together's every
Saturday with Tala. This week it will be Sunday. They love to play with
each other.
Best to you,

“Hi Karen,
Just a brief up-date on
Darwin
. He is doing very well, 37 pounds last Wednesday. He
is so smart and well behaved, sometimes he acts like a real person. Just
got done with the Saturday visitation of his cousin Tala, who is of
course his age. They just have the best time playing "wolf
dog", just running, wrestling and play hide and seek.
We could not be happier then we are with such a great
"gentlemen" dog. Attached a picture I took this morning.
All the best,

Just a quick note to let you know that
Darwin
is doing great. He spends most of the days on the loose with me in the
back yard while I do yard work. He does not leave the area when on the
loose with us out there. Also takes a lot of walks in the park behind
our house. Meets on a daily basis many dogs he knows already from the
frequent walks. He is the greatest. We love him. Just like a person. He
had all the puppy shots and will not need to see the doc till mid May.
... Don't tell me he does not look cute :-)

“Hi Karen,
Just an update on our very good and beautiful puppy.
Darwin
is now 5 month old and is as good and as much fun as any family member.
He is so much fun. Knows his stuff, loves to go on walks and just horse
around. He has a great memory, our daughter who is at college is
visiting this weekend. She was gone for a few weeks. When she walked up
to him he just howled very loud and just went nuts. What a great dog. He
is 59 pounds as of today. Will keep you posted on
Darwin

“Dear Karen,
Darwin
was seven months old yesterday, and he is doing so well. He now weighs
about 80 pounds and continues to thrive. He enjoys several walks each
day in the park and loves to run around and play in the back yard. He is
starting to enjoy water now, in a little wading pool. He loves to splash
around and play with his toys. He has quite a social following among the
dogs in the neighborhood and the park, too, and gets along well with
them. He has a little "window" through the park fence which he
likes to peek out of to keep an eye on his doggy friends who pass by.
They sometimes come right up to the window to say hi. We couldn't be
happier with him. He is so smart, friendly, and affectionate! We hope
all is well with you and send all our best wishes.

“Hi Karen,
Two pictures of our very special family member. We went camping in
Door
County
for five days. He was a outstanding camper. He loved the lake and the
walks through the woods. We had him on a line at night, so he would be
close to us. Never barked at night but surely kept the raccoons away. He
would come over to our tent at 6 in the morning (his regular time to get
up) and just look in the window, to let us know, "time to
move". What a great dog. Hope all is well at you place.
Best, Kurt”

“Hi,
An update on Kaya at 3.5 month. She was at the doc today, all is
perfect. She has a great time being on the loose in the back yard. Lots
of visitors from the people walking dogs in the park. Today, at one
point, we had 4 adults and 5 kids here playing with both by the "
Darwin
window" in the fence. Darwin and Kaya sure get along great. She
came in at 29.80 ponds, big eater she is.
Big girl already.”

“Hi Karen.
Just an up-date on our very neglected doggies. :-)
Darwin and Kaya are doing great.
Darwin
turned two and Kaya one this past two weeks. You would not believe how
many people stop us to get info about the beautiful doggies. This past
Sunday, Kathy took both for a walk while I did football watching. It
took her almost two hours to get twice around the park behind our house.
With many out of town visitors over the holiday and also people just
wanting to get out on a beautiful day, Kathy could not get past anyone
without having to answer questions about Darwin and Kaya. People are
just amazed at the calm behavior and good looks of our "kids".
Hope al continues to go well with you and the doggies. Hope to visit
some time soon.
Kurt, Kathy and girls.

| “Hi Karen,
I'm so sorry for not writing to you last week, but returning with our
pup coupled with a very hectic workload has not given me much free time.
I just wanted to let you know that we returned home to
Indianapolis
that Saturday evening and Diamond was so excited to see Zeus and Zeus was
equally happy about having a little playmate. The first few hours
were spent with the two dogs outside watching them interact and wiping
little Diamond off from all of the slobber Zeus so affectionately was
giving her. The two really enjoy each others company.
Diamond did very well on the ride back. The first few nights she
was getting settled with the new place, the new faces and environment, and
was a bit "nervous" but by Tuesday of the following week, only 3
days after returning, she really adapted well and continues to be a real
Joy for all of us. She is one little bundle of energy, we can spend
hours watching Diamond and Zeus play, run around the yard, up and down the
steps of the deck, sometimes argue, and ultimately sleep together. I
can tell she is an extremely intelligent dog as she very quickly learned
where she can and cannot go as well as coming immediately when called -- I
am really amazed.
Thanks once again for providing us with two such beautiful dogs.
I wish I had more space, I'd love to have even more!
Have a great day and God bless,
Matt” |

| “Hello Karen-
Our Dog- Jaeger
Father- Saranac Sam
Mother Yada's Amen (born
May 23, 2005
)
I thought it was time to send you some new pictures of Jaeger and
also give you an update on his progression, feel free to put this
on your website...
As you can see from the first picture (taken 4 weeks ago) Jaeger is
really starting to grow. He is now 4 months old and he weighs roughly
36lbs. As you can see from the pictures above he loves to go on the
deck and not sleep under the table, but on top of the table. He sure
seems to take after his father when it comes to jumping on top of
things, he loves to jump. He still has some trouble getting down, but if
I put him on the deck for more then 10 mins he always manages to get to
his favorite spot. His second favorite thing to do is go to the Barn
with Sara and play with all the other dogs and horses. It's really is
amazing to see how much he gets along with the horses, he always is
going right up to them as if they were just another big dog for him to
play with. He also enjoys sitting in the ring with Sara while she gives
lessons, of course he is always digging to keep himself occupied while
he waits for the lesson to end. We could not have asked for a better dog
and we look forward every day to see what kinds of things he will do
next. Sara and I wish you and all the dogs the best. Talk to you soon.”
______________________________
“Good Morning Karen-
I thought it would be a good time to send some new pictures of Jaeger. He
loves the snow we get in NH, he can not get enough of playing or rolling
around in it. I can not even imagine what he will do when it's a foot
deep. Jaeger is now 61/2
months old and weights 63lbs, within the past 12 days he has gained
another 10lbs. Sara thinks he is starting to look more like his
Grandfather (Fantastic Fred) then either of his parents. His growing
really seems to be in spurts every few weeks, it will plateau for 3-4
weeks then spike up again, not sure if this is common or not. Jaeger
still enjoys going to the barn the most, and his favorite thing to do
now is jump the fences in the ring. He watches the horses go in there
jumping lessons, and then when they are done they lower them for Jaeger
and he runs around jumping them, it is actually quite funny. We will
check in again soon. Have a happy and safe
Holiday
.... Stay Warm!”
______________________________
"Hello Karen-The warm weather has finally hit here in NH, and
Jaeger is thrilled that the lakes and ponds are no longer frozen.
We take Jaeger swimming everyday as it is one of his favorite things to
do. He loves to retrieve sticks and he now likes to submerse his
head all the way below the water and blow bubbles. He has also
taking to chasing waves. Jaeger is now 16 months old and weighs
roughly 80 lbs, and is 25.5 in tall. Jaeger has become a fantastic
companion dog for Sara and I, and is truly attached to both of us
exactly the same. He also goes to "Doggie Daycare" 2
days a week and everyone we see there always asks what kind of Dog he is
and remarks how beautiful his breed is. We are so happy that we
found your website last year, and that we were able to get such a great
dog. Take Care

“Hi Karen,
Thank you again so much for Manitu! He is wonderful and growing so
fast!! I should have more pictures later this week, but here are a
few right after we got him home. He's already going to the door
when he needs to go out to potty. He's so very smart and sweet.
Thank you!!”

“Hi Karen,
Manitu went on his first vacation with us a few weeks back. We
rented a mountain cabin with a private lake and took our dogs with us.
Manitu loved the water... chased every frog and fish he could see or
smell! He made his self right at home at the cabin and we were
very impressed on how well he adjusted being in a strange place and only
being 4 1/2 months old.
I hope you enjoy the pictures of the vacation! Thought you might
get a laugh at the one where the dogs are on "their spots"
waiting on the steak dinner Frank cooked them on the grill both nights!
I'm truly amazed on how quick and smart Manitu learns things. He
is so well behaved and has better manners than most kids these days!”

Hi Karen,
Wanted to share some recent pictures with you of Manitu and Wakhan -
they both just turned a 1 year old May 23!
Manitu is around 110lbs and Wakhan is around 98lbs. They
are only about an inch difference in their height, but Manitu is about 7
inches longer in the body than Wakhan.
Both boys are doing great! We love them both so much.
Anyone ever doubting getting two NAID to grow up together
shouldn't have the slightest worry. They are never far apart from
each other and that even includes chewing on big cow bones together -
side by side. Manitu usually
gets whichever one he wants and Wakhan gets the other..... then about
after 30 minutes or so, they'll switch! It's funny to watch them,
they get along so well together.
We bought them a pond from Lowe's to use as a pool. I wish it was
deeper, but that's the deepest we could find, but it's large enough for
both of them to get in and splash
around. They have a routine every morning, after breakfast, they
chase each other around and wrestle, pretty rough stuff... then they get
in the pool and get all wet and then sleep in front of a huge barn fan
from lunch until afternoon when it cools off. Then we go for an
hour or so walk before dinner. Then they come in for the evenings
to spend with us playing, brushing and chewing on huge cow bones!
We took them to a private dog park several times now. It's 12
fenced in acres including part of the lake is fenced in as well.
So the go swimming and play with all the other
dogs. They are always the center of attention with people wanting
to know what kind of dogs they are and can't get over how sweet and
beautiful they are ..... I have given out your website and name
hundreds of times! They get along with every dog they meet but
they really took to a Siberian Husky as soon as they saw her. The
three of them stick together and play the most out of any other dogs.
Hope you enjoy the pictures…
God Bless!

“Karen:
Wow!
Tara
has spent a month
with us now and is up to 27 pounds. I thought I was such a dog expert,
but apparently forgot how much work a puppy is. Add to the equation that
my wife has pneumonia. Anyway.
Tara
is a dream.
So much work... My daughter said to me as we were taking her to a
play date with the dog on her lap. "Sometimes I think this is a
dream. I can't believe I have a dog. Having a dog really changes your
life. Golden Retrievers used to be my favorite kind of dog, but now
Tara
is." My
daughter and I took
Tara
upstate to our
cottage last week and stayed two extra days in the snow. (She skipped
school. My wife was sick and didn't know it was pneumonia yet, so we
were giving her a break.) She had a chance to really jump and run in the
snow. I will send you some new pictures. It is amazing the people
you meet. Friday, I was
picking my daughter up after swimming, with
Tara
in the back seat
and as I pulled up at the Brooklyn Marriot a woman standing there
noticed the dog. When I told her she was an NAID, she said, "I'm an
Alaskan Eskimo." She then explained that Alaskan Malamutes were
originally mixed with Asian breeds to get the curly tail. The next day I
was in the back yard walking
Tara
, and a man was in
the yard behind us with a miners light on his forehead. He was picking
ivy for a party going on. He immediately asked about
Tara
and then explained
that he had spent the summer in Homer Alaska working for the sponsor of
the Iditerod. He did a lot of feeding and shoveling. He would harness a
couple dogs or more at a time and let them pull him up the road on his
bike. Anyway, she is gorgeous, she's doing fine, we are overwhelmed, and
we love her. Best wishes, Jim”

“Karen, Hope all is well in
Michigan
. It's been a long, cold, snowy winter in
New York
. Update:
Tara
got her rabies shot and micro-chip this morning.
She's up to 37.5 lbs. At 4 1/2 months, she does a respectable
sit, down, stay, come, leave it, wait (at feeding time so as not to jump
up) and, she's getting better every day at heeling as we walk down the
street. We started work on "go to your spot". We're clicker
training, and she eagerly masters every step along the way. The
challenge is for us to keep giving her new
things to learn as fast as she can learn them. (And, of course, to keep
doing the things she has learned initially.) She's bright, enthusiastic,
and not at all manic. But then, I never go to the gym anymore, and
between myself, and the rest of the family,
Tara
is out walking or playing in the park on average 3-4 hours a day. Like
our vet said "a tired dog is a good dog". Life will never be
the same. I've started taking her to work with me,
and with a long walk at
noon
, she's quite happy watching us work, or sleeping and chewing a long
chunk of rawhide the rest of the time in her cage. She's looking more
like her mother every day. All the best, Jim”

“Hi Karen,
Wanted to give you an update since we've brought Manitu's brother,
Wakhan, into our family 2 weeks ago. Both boys are doing great together
now. The play is still pretty rough, but they are calming down more each
day. I think they have determined their order between the two of them.
We're still working with our other two older dogs and Wakhan, but I'm
sure a few more weeks and everyone will be settled.
The energy level between Manitu and Wakhan is totally different. Manitu
is laid back and doesn't really get in a hurry over anything, so playing
with his brother has really been a change for him - Wakhan tires him out
every hour! Wakhan on the other hand, just runs and runs and jumps
around all by himself when Manitu gives out on him. I think Wakhan would
make a great sled dog, too bad we live in the South with no snow!
I've attached a few pictures for your website of both boys together and
some of each of them separately.
Both are 7 months tomorrow (Dec 23). Manitu weighs 85lbs and Wakhan
weighs 70lbs. Manitu is longer in the body, slightly taller and has
larger feet than Wakhan, but you can definitely tell they are brothers!!
